New Book Release: TOMB OF GODS

After 3 years of researching Egyptian mythology and writing, my TOMB OF GODS is an action-adventure thriller with horror and sci-fi fantasy mixed in for fun. Set in late 1930s London and Egypt, the story follows a team of British archaeologists and soldiers who explore deep into an Egyptian cave tomb full of horrors and wonders. Among them, Egyptologist Imogen Riley is searching for what caused her grandfather's team to vanish in these caves during a previous ill-fated expedition. And why did her grandfather return insane and covered head-to-toe in mysterious scars. Also along for the adventure are archaeologists for the British Museum led by Dr. Nathan Trummel, American journalist and photographer Caleb Beckett, and cast of other characters. Every member of the expedition team will be tested as they face their darkest fears in a seemingly endless maze of caves that may contain one of the greatest secrets of the ancient pharaohs. The explorers discover quickly that they are being stalked in these caves. The horror scenes are scary, so this novel is not for the faint of heart. If you like Egyptian history mixed with tomb raider adventure, horror and sci-fi fantasy, then I think you'll enjoy this book.

TOMB OF GODS is now available in paperback, hardback, and eBook on Amazon, BarnesandNoble.com and through other booksellers.

New Short Story Published

I haven't blogged in awhile because I've been writing tons of new fiction that I'll be releasing over the next 2 years. Today my latest short story "Swamp Vengeance" releases on Amazon in a horror anthology MIDNIGHT IN THE GRAVEYARD published by Silver Shamrock Publishing.

"Swamp Vengeance" was a new type of story for me and very fun to write specifically for this anthology. All the stories by some of the best horror writers today are dark and twisted ghost stories in the tradition of EC comic books like Tales from the Crypt and Vault of Horror and Stephen King's Creepshow

When I got the opportunity to write a short story with this comic-book-style ghost-story theme, I was traveling around Florida and staying in many towns up and down the coasts. While driving from Fort Meyers to Miami, I stopped off for a swamp tour at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and got up close and personal with some interesting swamp life and big alligators.

Alligator with my thumb in the shot.

Those last 2 gator photos were taken at Alachua Sink near Gainesville. I also drove across the southern tip of Florida through the Everglades, observing gators swimming in the channels along the road. A friend and I went on an airboat tour through the Glades. This inspired the setting for "Swamp Vengeance" and the creation of my lead character Merle Pritchett, a gator hunter who knows these water channels through the high sawgrass better than he knows his own wife. He also foolishly ignores the legends about the ghosts that inhabit the deeper part of the swamps.

This Miccosukee village and totem pole, nestled on an island in the Everglades, along with a true legend of a lost Seminole city inspired the folklore in my story.

Aside from having a heck of a lot fun touring the Florida wetlands and writing this creepy story, it's an honor to see it included among so many great authors, including one of my literary heroes, Robert McCammon, whose paperback horror novels and short stories I devoured during my years of learning to be a writer. You can now read "Swamp Vengeance" and over 20 other spooky ghost stories in MIDNIGHT IN THE GRAVEYARD, available at Amazon.

Writing News

Although it's been awhile since I released a new book, I've had a productive month of writing. Finished revising my novel TOMB OF GODS, my novella SAVAGE ISLAND, and a new short story for an upcoming anthology. Next, I'm working on a new historical horror short story I'm eager to get writing on.

I currently have no timetable for when my novel and novella will be released. Very soon, I'll be able to announce the name of the horror anthology that my short story will be published in. I appreciate everyone who reads my books and posts reviews on Amazon and Goodreads.
