From lobotomy x-rays to actual patients with scars on their heads from the procedure. For some reason now at 60 its all coming back to me. I lived there from the age of 2-13. I came in contact with patients on a daily basis, even talked to them. As a child I wasn't afraid. It was my home. Between growing up there, and having great parents, it taught me empathy for the people of Greystone. I have so many stories...I can tell you though, none of my school friends ever wanted to spend the night at my home.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7977023303202003271.post-31766589106317932812015-02-22T10:38:59.503-06:002015-02-22T10:38:59.503-06:00I remember sneaking into here while abandoned abou...I remember sneaking into here while abandoned about 12 yrs ago. A couple of patients got loose and made there way into our backyard. This was a rare occurrence but once was enough. One time, a group of friends broke into the hospital and searched some of the tunnels. They even grabbed a few photos and files. I stayed in the car and was very unhappy that they took stuff. I was always creeped out by the place. Except when I was a little girl, in the 80's and early 90's, the place was more active and you would see patients on the property. Almost daily we drove by the hospital and almost every time I would see a nice gentleman on the park bench. Every time he would wave and smiled at me and I always did the same back. Now I am 33 and I often think of that man.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00926152993428973373noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7977023303202003271.post-77130644298080522382014-10-06T00:54:46.589-05:002014-10-06T00:54:46.589-05:00My mother worked there for a short time when she w...My mother worked there for a short time when she was pregnant with me. I remember her saying that she was terrified, and quit after a few months. Growing up in Morris County, the mention of Greystone would give me a chill. I almost didn't make it through that clinical rotation. I have instant recognition of the basement tunnels- having walked through them then--and the halls. I will never forget my experiences there and sometimes wonder if I had PTSD after my experience!
